CHURCH-WIDE: EVENTS AND DATES TO REMEMBER

Parent Dedication - This Sunday (May 11)
Every year we invite new parents and new families to dedicate the discipline of parenting to God. All are invited Sunday, May 18th, 6pm, in the Grandview Room to celebrate and pray for our high school graduates. A pizza dinner is provided. Please bring $3 to help with the cost of the food. Card boxes are available at both campuses.

CHURCH-WIDE: INFORMATION

We have the opportunity to partner with our friends at Family Promise this week and help care for some current needs. Their shelter program continues to stay full with a waiting list and they are presently serving 5 families. Additionally, the Eviction Prevention program has served 11 families so far in 2025. The needs here in our community continue to grow, but here's a quick list of practical things you can purchase and bring to help address some immediate needs:
crock pots
griddles
twin or queen size sheet sets
healthy and hearty snacks for the Day Center
You're welcome to bring any of these items by the Buffalo Campus over the next week and we will deliver them.

The Grandview library's featured book is Heaven Help Us by John Kasich, former Ohio governor, a public servant and man of faith. It features examples of God using faith communities to inspire HOPE, strengthen neighborhoods, and help build the future. "Thy will be done on earth...."
Aaron Is Taking A Short Sabbatical
Aaron Wymer will be traveling to England for two weeks as part of a brief sabbatical. During his time in England he will spend two Sundays (May 11 and 18) with Newsong Community Church in Bromsgrove (https://newsongbromsgrove.org.uk/). For the past nine months Aaron has been in regular contact with Graham and Nicola Bayley, ministers of Newsong. Nicola does most of the preaching, her husband Graham does most of the worship leading—they both lead the church together as a couple.
During his visit with the Bayleys and Newsong, Aaron will be observing how Newsong is being the church in their context, and he is hoping to build a long-term relationship with Newsong as a sister church, of sorts. He would love for the Bayleys to visit Grandview in the future.
Between the two Sundays at Newsong, Aaron will travel with David Giles of Christian Missionary Fellowship (CMF) to visit the Global scope ministries in Birmingham, Nottingham, and Edinburgh. He is looking forward to seeing Meredith McKinney and Miles Costello, as well as catching up with a couple of former students of his preaching class at Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan University.
After his time with Newsong and CMF, Aaron will spend a couple of days with Tim Brown, the grandson of A.E Whitham, who was the subject of Aaron’s thesis when he was a student at Emmanuel.
Missing Tablecloths
We are looking for 3 black tablecloths for our round tables. If you happened to borrow them or know where they might be, please contact the church office or just bring them back and put them on the counter in the upper kitchen.
We are planning to use them for the Graduation Celebration and Joy is trying to get everything prepared before she goes on maternity leave.

Food Pantry
Thank you for all who have given faithfully to feed those with food needs.
Donations are always appreciated and can be placed in the bin located in the coat closet at our Buffalo Campus.
If you or someone you know is in need of food, our food pantry is open on Thursdays from 9-10am. If you would like more information, contact the church office.

MISSIONS

This week, we will ask Warren to give us an update on his family. Lots of changes have been occurring.
3. Can you give us an update on each of your family members. As Mission Partners, we consider you our family, too.
a. Our oldest Riley, his wife Jessica and their three daughters Madeline, Lydia and Sophie are missionaries with Ethnos360 in Brazil. They work at an international Christian school for children of missionaries and pastors.
They have been on a short-term assignment (4 years) but will be coming back this summer to attend Ethnos’ training center in Missouri in order to become full career staff.
b. Our next oldest Julianne and her husband Luke live about 10 minutes from us in Nampa. They just bought their first home and expect their first baby at the end of May. We are excited to have a granddaughter closer to
us!
c. Our daughter Elyssa will graduate from Boise State University this spring with a degree in sports medicine/kinesiology. She is continuing at BSU with a graduate degree in Athletic Training. Right now she is interning with the BSU football team. Her boyfriend Gian is a PE teacher/ soccer coach, so they stay busy with lots of athletic involvement.
d. Our daughter Shelby is currently living with us in the attached “mother-in- law” apartment. She works at a sporting goods store in Boise.
e. Our youngest Quinton is also living with us. He works at the same sporting goods store and is starting at BSU in the fall.
4. How do you and Julie like to spend your time? What are your interests?
a. As far as recreational activities, Julie and I don’t play cards/games very much. WE do like to go outside. Julie takes a lot of nature and animal photos, and I like to go with her to be outside and enjoy nature. I’ve started taking binoculars along and doing some birdwatching. At home, she spends time editing her photos while I like to go out in my shop and making things. I build model planes and hand tool furniture mostly. We do try to see games where our daughter is playing and try to have family over about once a week for a meal or dessert.

The family grows.

Where did all of these kids come from???
Next week, we will take a break to address our Mission Program overall, as it will be Mission Emphasis Sunday!
Learn More About our Missions Ministry Team
Grandview's Missions Ministry Team facilitates on-going relationships between our Grandview family and the missionaries/missions that we support as well as emphasizing the importance of missions in general. We host missionaries, plan events, learn about our mission partners, manage the Vision Fund (see below), oversee the Grandview Missions budget, and pray for God’s work around the world. New team members are welcome. Many opportunities for service are available. Please email Richard Phillips (2025 team leader) for more information about joining the team, to request long-term or short-term support, or to receive a current mailing list of our missionaries so that you can send cards and/or packages to them.

COLLEGE AGE
YOUTH
Joy's Maternity Leave
Below are a few things You May Be Wondering About Joy's Maternity Leave...
When Joy's due date?
May 12th!
How long will Joy be gone?
The plan is to be gone for 8 weeks, starting when labor begins!
Is Joy coming back after the baby is born?
That’s the plan!
Are there any big changes to the May, June and July youth schedule?
Nope! We are proceeding with our normal rhythms, largely due to the generous help of several incredible volunteers.
Who is in charge of things while Joy's gone?
Because Grandview Youth has several moving parts and no one person whose toes are dipped in each area (other than the pregnant youth minster), Joy has elected to have one expert over each of the six areas that are likely to be effected by her leave. Each of these people are familiar with or will become familiar with their area of Grandview Youth ministry while leaning on Eliza Kiernan for support and her disaster recovery skills.
Check out the graphic below to see our incredible lineup of volunteers!

CANOPIES
What is a Canopy?
In an amazing natural phenomenon called “canopy shyness,” trees in some forests grow in patterns that allow light to permeate the forest below. The whole forest can be healthy and grow together by keeping space in the canopy. This is the idea behind Canopy at Grandview.
Our Canopies are small groups who come together once a week, every other week, or once a month. Whatever your fancy, there is a Canopy group for you. Let us help you get connected into an existing Canopy or help you start a new one. For more information, contact Katy Woodward.
Canopy Groups
Here is a list of some of our current Canopy Groups. If you would like to join a canopy or get more information about our canopies, fill out our Life at Grandview Form.

GIVING
We are excited to share with you the following ways to give. If you have any questions, you can contact the church office or our Treasurer - Brandon Rogers.
Use the Church Center App: Download from Google Play or Apple App Store. (Links at https://churchcenter.com) At bottom of screen, click the Give button. Give to your choice of funds, as one-time gifts, or schedule recurring gifts, using a debit/credit card or directly from your bank account (ACH). If you want to “split” your gift between two or more funds, you will need to Give Online or Text-To-Give (See next two items below)
Give Online (Church Center): Go to https://grandviewchristian.churchcenter.com/giving. This is the same Church Center App but viewed online as a webpage. You can give in the same ways described above. And here you can split your gift between two or more funds, easily.
Text-To-Give (Church Center): Text the “$” dollar amount you want to give to “84321” and you will get a reply text link to Church Center’s web page allowing you to give in the same ways described above. Give to a specific fund, or split funds in your text message. (For example, to give $40 Total by giving $10 to each online fund, you would text “$10 Buffalo $10 Cityview $10 Unreachable $10 Partnership”) You can use the “bolded” words as shown in the example for the funds, or else you will have to type the full fund names as shown below.
Available Funds for Online Electronic Giving:
General-Fund-Buffalo - For discretional spending for Buffalo Campus, per budget. Used where needed most.
General-Fund-Cityview - For discretional spending for Cityview Campus, per budget. Used where needed most.
Unreachable-Capital-Campaign - Established to pay off Church Mortgage, launching Cityview, and other improvements.
Partnership-Fund - Separate Fund for privately and confidentially helping members and others in need.
If you need help with anything above, or want to give electronically to a fund not listed above, or if you want to give electronically in memory of a member who as passed away, please contact the Church Treasurer, Brandon Rogers, for assistance at treasurer@grandviewchristian.org.
FREE Electronic ACH Giving / Covering Credit Card Costs (Optional): In the past, members asked to “voluntarily” cover credit card gift costs which was hard to do as costs were variable. Now, costs are lower & fixed, so you can easily elect to cover those costs just by checking a box when giving. Totally Optional! If you do so, the extra amount is added to your gift. The net gift amount appears on all receipts & statements.
***Checking account (ACH) gifts are essentially FREE to Grandview***The actual cost paid is $0.30 cents per gift (less than a postage stamp), and you can optionally cover that cost if you wish. If you do not, a donor has pledged to cover, on behalf of Grandview, all the $0.30 cent fees for any ACH gifts on Church Center. The anonymous donor wants all electronic Church Center checking account (ACH) giving to be free to both Grandview and you!
Church Center / Deductible Giving only / Receipts: All Church Center electronic giving is for gifts only. You may pay electronically for any non-tax-deductible payments for Two4Two, Youth trips, or Children’s events, as part of the registration process for those events. A donation receipt is automatically emailed when your gift is processed (even cash or checks.) You can toggle that receipt feature on and off in the app (or online). If you need any assistance with any of the above, please contact the Treasurer.
Cash and Checks are always welcome in the offering plate/giving boxes. You can split your gift between funds with a memo field note, or with separate checks, whichever you personally prefer.
Important notes: When writing a check to the Capital Campaign, please write “Unreachable” or “Campaign” in the memo field. If you write “Cityview” in the memo, your gift will be allocated to the Cityview General Fund. All checks should be payable to “Grandview Christian Church,” not payable to any fund or campus. Please do not mail cash anywhere! And do not mail checks to the Treasurer’s home address or any other staff member’s home address.
If you desire to mail a check, please mail to:
